Lamont And Tanner Update

Lamont is doing well.  He's getting tired of eating the soft food.  He's never been a fan of Friskies wet food.  He likes his Whiska's dry.  I can start him on the dry food after this weekend.  His gums were still a bit red when he went for his checkup.  He's also tired of being cooped up in the back room.

Tanner is doing better now too.  His skin is finally healing up so his new medication is working.  Comfortis rocks!  It's more expensive but when you figure in the flea treatments, the prednisone he had to take to get better, it works out to be a little cheaper with the Comfortis.

Cherry's skin is getting bad again so she will have to go back on antibiotics.  I will phone her doctor tomorrow and order meds to pick up this weekend.  It seems like we have to go to the vet every weekend.  I know everyone who works there better than my neighbors where I live.    Oh well.....I have to take Tanner in this weekend to have the techs give him his Comfortis again.  That's the other drawback.  The Comfortis is like a antacid tablet....it's huge.

I still have my cold but I think it's worse because of all the pollen that's blowing here and there.  I do have allergies and need to refill my flonase.  Maybe I can separate out the allergies if I start using the nose spray again.

Yesterday and part of today we had no phones or Internet connection.  I called Comcast and they brought us a new modem/router combination.  The tech replaced boosters and some cable connections to boost the signal. Before he came we couldn't get a wifi connection in the bedroom (three quarters of the length of our house) and our phone was dropping calls.  That should be great until about next year and then they'll have to do it again.  We've had it done at least three times out of four years with Comcast.

I Do Not Have Cat Hair In My Eye!

On Friday I had to rush over to my eye doctor's office.  It seems I (according to the doctor) had something in my eye and it swelled up and turned super red.  Oh ya,  It also hurt like crazy.  He said it was probably a cat hair that came out after it caused the angry eye. I maintain the position that I think I would have felt it if I had a cat hair in my eye.  I can sure tell if I get an eyelash in one of my eyes.  I still think it was an eye infection.  I shouldn't say WAS because I'm still having pain from it as well as swelling.  I'm hoping tomorrow it will stop hurting.

I went into the Humane Society's web cam tonight to check on Damien.  He's  hiding in one of the cubes they have on the floor of the cattery. I'm happy he is sleeping soundly and not bullying any of the other cats into a fighting frenzy.  The Humane Society must have had a lot of people through there today. All the cats seem to be out cold.

All is well here at our house.  The cats are fine and the dogs are fine as well.  The bird watching isn't as exciting right now because it's been raining for a few days.  Paddy and Homer are doing their favorite rainy weather sport.  They wait until Fina gets up and then chase her until she goes back to bed again.  Poor Fina!

The Victor Returns Home

Victor is home and with his best buddy, Lamont.  He rubbed on Lamont as soon as he got out of his carrier and then ran to the water and had a good drink.  Mind you....in the hospital he didn't eat or drink anything.  I went in to tube feed him and he fought me the whole way.  After we were done he jumped down and went to the dry food and chowed.  The doctor wants him to have a whole can of Science Diet ad everyday for at least a week.  He's going to be soooo mad at me when that week is over!  Oh well...like I said yesterday....that's what we do here.  Here's the little Prince after he chowed on the dry food.
He's got that one eyed squint that says,"LEAVE ME ALONE".  He's probably more mad about me disturbing him from his cuddling with Lamont to feed him.  Now it will take a while before Lamont comes back to lay with him again.
My favorite Tech at the 24 hour hospital said that he didn't sleep while he was there.  That was, I'm guessing, a trust thing.  To one who thinks he's still very feral....all those strangers picking him up and accosting him every so often had to be stressful.

Here's a picture of Ed and his girl Sugar with her navy blue dress on.  This was taken yesterday.  The girls usually wear the same type of clothes each day.

So, all is well at Muttzncatz's Place tonight.

The Holiday Crunch

The Trailblazer is back but only the heat is working.  The air had to be disabled.  It was seizing up and will cost between $700.00 to $800.00 to fix.  That won't get done right now.  We at least have heat for the Winter months.

I've started my Christmas shopping.  I always dread the buying gifts part of Christmas.  I'm afraid that no one will like what I bought for them.  The only part I do like is buying for the cats and dogs.  For the cats, a little catnip goes a long way.  For Homer...the small furry catnip mice are perfect.  He loves them.  The only problem is that he plays with one and then the next morning it's floating in the water bowl.  He's almost as bad as a raccoon.  He has to wash everything.  Even when he gets ahold of something I have cut off a package to open it...it's in the water after a bit of play.  One of his worst habits is reaching under the oven or fridge and scraping out dust bunnies after I've washed the kitchen floor.  I'm never sure if he is trying to tell me that it needed cleaning or he is looking for a mouse he lost.
Fina likes a little bling.  If I can find something that has rhinestones on it for around her neck, she's happy.  The rest just get balls and catnip.  They all get new collars too.

Speaking of Christmas....we have another recipe that we like to fix for Christmas dinner once in awhile.  It's carrot pudding. It's a steamed pudding and tastes really good.  I'll post it next time I blog again.  I'll also try to get a picture of the children's Christmas stockings hung on the mantle in December to show you they all have a stocking.  I have to get one for Sugar since she's the newest adoptee.

Christmas is headed our way

It's time to drag out all the decorations for Christmas. I have a collection of Snowmen that are coming out first. The cats don't bother anything but the Christmas tree. I shouldn't say cats, it's only Homer that likes to climb the limbs and sleep in the tree. I can't understand why he likes that so much since it's an artificial tree and is super scratchy. It makes my arms break out just putting it together. So far he hasn't broken anything but I'm not holding my breath. I'm going to put it up soon and leave it untrimmed to see if he is still fascinated by it. Pray for my tree...please!

The weather here is still fairly frigid. I bought Cherry (dog) a couple of new sweaters to keep her warm. She has figured out how to squirm out of them. The first sweater I bought her was a small which is tight on her now. This time I bought her medium and she takes it off at will. Is there no happy medium here? No pun intended *snicker*

Yesterday was kind of a bust. I cooked a huge meal and nobody ate much. My son Jeff, and his son AJ came after they had gone to Jeff's dad's house for Thanksgiving. They weren't hungry. My husband Ed, had to get up early so didn't want to eat heavy. Next year there will be no Thanksgiving dinner here. I'm happy that Jeff is finally bonding with his dad so I don't want to whine and stop them from the progress they are making. On the other hand...I'm tired of cooking for three days and throwing away food. Little chef and I worked very hard on that meal.
The cats and dog certainly do enjoy all that Turkey though.

I'm not a black Friday shopper I guess. Today was the day to catch a bargin and I tried to go to Target to see if I could score some icicle lights at a good price. I wanted the kind that actually look like an icicle but have lights in them. There were no parking spaces so I went home. I like shopping online for whatever I need. I can't bear to think about driving around and around looking for a place to park. Then if you get in the store you have to deal with rude people. Thank God for the Internet!

Spring is almost here

Well it's mid February and the cats (9) are all loosing their Winter hair buildup. Boy, do I need a Dyson ! It would be super if I could use the hairballs to make something crafty.
Last year was a hard one because we lost our precious Maggie and Michael. Maggie was a Schnauzer that we rescued from a neighbor that was beating her when she was 9 months old. She lived with us for almost 11 years but the last year was a hard one. She had Diabetes and a bladder stone. We got the Diabetes under control and had the bladder stone operated on...... only to find out that she had a Cancerous growth crowding out one of her Lungs. She passed on August 16, 2009.
Michael was a rescue from my son who had his girlfriend move in with him and she wasn't fond of dogs....... So he stayed with Gramma and Grampa until he became sick with Congestive Heart Failure and had to be put down in March. He was an American Eskimo. We also lost two cats..... Snowball to Liver failure, and Wabbit to uncontrolled Diabetes.
Every time we loose one, a new one shows up at our door. I swear there is a small mark that only the animals can see that appears out in front of the house when there is a vacancy in here.
Most of the Fur people we have taken in have special health problems too. Since we are not wealthy people...this is a hardship at times.
We now have one of our older cats (Midge) who is on Thyroid medication. She became inactive for around three days and when I took her to the box (since I had not seen her move all day) Her head went down, her front feet went out from under her and she fell into the cat litter landing on her neck and face. I picked her up and put her on the floor and she did the same thing ! Apparently she has an under functioning Thyroid according to the Vet we took her to.
I'll explain more of the fuzzball gang another time.
